USF transfer SF Chris Youngblood commits to Alabama
Former South Florida small forward Chris Youngblood has committed to join the Alabama Crimson Tide via the NCAA transfer portal, On3’s has learned.
It’s another new team for Youngblood, as the move to Alabama represents his second transfer in as many seasons, after he spent the first three years of his career at Kennesaw State. However, he’ll be hoping he found a home in Tuscaloosa.
Moreover, Youngblood led the Bulls this past season with 15.3 points per game while shooting 41.6% from 3-point range. He was named the AAC’s Co-Player of the Year while also chipping in 2.1 assists and 2.5 rebounds.
Prior to joining USF, Youngblood recorded more than 1,000 career points across his three years at Kennesaw State. He averaged 14.7 points and 4.7 rebounds in his final season with the Owls while being named first team all-conference.
Youngblood attended East Coweta High School in Sharpsburg, Georgia but was not ranked in the 2020 cycle according to the On3 Industry Ranking. His hometown is listed as Tuscaloosa per his profile on the South Florida website, so Alabama was a team to look out for from the jump
The 2024-2025 season will be Youngblood’s finale in college basketball, so he’ll be looking to make the most of it wherever he ends up as it will be his final season of eligibility. With Alabama coming off a trip to the Final Four, there’s no telling how high the Crimson Tide can climb next season.

Chris Youngblood is a huge get for Alabama, after guard Rylan Griffen revealed his intention to enter the NCAA transfer portal, The Field of 68’sJeff Goodman reported. He put together a strong sophomore season with the Crimson Tide in 2023-24.
Griffen was a key part of Alabama’s first-ever Final Four appearance, averaging 11.2 points while shooting 39.2% from three-point distance. It was quite the leap from his freshman season in which he scored 5.9 points in 15.8 minutes on average.
Griffen played high school basketball at Richardson (TX) High School, where he was a four-star recruit. He arrived in Tuscaloosa as the No. 45 overall player from the 2022 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.
