Ole Miss forward Rashaud Marshall enters the NCAA Transfer Portal
Ole Miss forward Rashaud Marshall has entered the NCAA Transfer Portal, On3 has learned. Marshall only spent one season with the Rebels.
He made 19 appearances in his debut campaign with Ole Miss. Marshall did not record any starts. The 6-foot-8 forward averaged 1.4 points and 0.8 rebounds in 5.1 minutes per game. On 16 attempts, Marshall shot 62.5% from the floor this past season.
Rashaud Marshall played high school basketball at Blytheville (AR), where he was a four-star prospect. He was the No. 97 overall recruit in the 2023 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.
Marshall is the first player from Ole Miss to enter the transfer portal this offseason. The Rebels finished the 2023-24 season with a 20-12 overall record and a 7-11 mark in conference play, good for 10th in the SEC standings.
Ole Miss embraces a new era
Despite Ole Miss’ underwhelming conclusion to the season, the school was happy with head coach Chris Beard’s first season at the helm. On March 13, the university announced news of a contract extension for Beard. It did not disclose the length of the extension or the terms of the new deal.
“The future of Ole Miss Basketball could not be brighter under Coach Beard’s leadership,” vice chancellor for intercollegiate athletics Keith Carter said in a press release. “His impact on every facet of our program was immediately apparent, and it has translated to a new standard of success and a culture that is building every day.
“He has galvanized Rebel Nation, and particularly our student body, and created a newfound passion for men’s basketball that is felt throughout the entire Ole Miss community. We could not be more excited to strengthen our investment in the program and can’t wait to see what the many years ahead hold with Coach Beard leading our team.”
In addition to the on-court success, Beard helped rejuvenate the fanbase. Ole Miss set a season total attendance record, while also setting the single-game record for most fans with a game against Mississippi State. That Jan. 30 contest against the in-state rivals drew 10,630 fans.
