Conner Weigman plays like top QB at Under Armour All-America Game

Charles Power

Texas A&M signee Conner Weigman was the top-rated quarterback at the game and looked by far the most comfortable on Sunday. Weigman used his athletic ability to avoid the pass rush and make some off-schedule plays. It was not the strongest group of quarterbacks, but Weigman separated himself from the group with his play on Sunday.

Conner Weigman mid-season senior evaluation

Charles Power

Conner Weigman got off to a huge start as a senior, scoring eight touchdowns in his season debut, which was aired on national television. He's running an uptempo, quarterback-heavy offense at Bridgeland (Texas) High. The Bears get up and down the field. Weigman had a four-interception game in Week 2 but still managed to come away with the win. He rebounded a week later with another huge stat day. So far, the Aggie quarterback commit is averaging well over 400 total yards per game. Weigman is an instinctive player with a bit of a gunslinger streak. He's also continued to show some speed and rushing ability like he did last year.

Conner Weigman accounts for 8 TD's in nationally-televised game

Charles Power

Conner Weigman kicked off his season with a huge showing on Saturday night. The 6-foot-2, 210-pounder accounted for eight – that's right, eight – touchdowns in a 54-14 win over Houston Klein Cain on ESPNU. Weigman pounced on the Cain defense during the first drive and didn't let up. He showcased the full skill set. Weigman easily found open receivers and had some high-difficulty layered throws. He looked comfortable from the pocket and made a handful of off-schedule plays. We also got to see his mobility on a 35-yard touchdown run to start the game. By the time the dust settled, Weigman had completed 23-of-33 passes for 358 yards and five touchdowns. He also ran for 104 yards and two touchdowns and ran 47 yards for another touchdown on a throwback pass. Seven of the eight touchdowns came in the first half.

Conner Weigman shows well at the Elite 11 Finals

Charles Power

Weigman finished Day 1 of the Elite 11 Finals on a high note, winning the Cover 2 Hole Shot challenge. The two-sport standout delivered several high-difficulty passes with proper trajectory and good velocity. He had a bit of an up-and-down day prior to the finale. This isn’t really Weigman’s ideal setting – he’s more of a live 11-on-11 player at this point. It’s apparent that he has a few mechanical areas to improve. He plays on his toes at times and would generate more force in his throws by keeping his cleats in the ground throughout the throwing motion. Despite that, the Houston area product had a strong overall showing and got better as the week progressed. Weigman heated up on the final day of the event, nearly leading a comeback in the 7-on-7 tournament’s championship game. He made several tight-window throws, showing strong anticipation and processing skills. We didn’t get an even snapshot of all quarterbacks in 7-on-7 as games took plays on two fields concurrently. From the snapshot we saw, Weigman appeared to process and get the ball out the best of the finalists.
