The WNBA stars for the LA Sparks were out on Wednesday night ahead of the Game 5 NBA Playoff matchup between the Dallas Mavericks and LA Clippers. Cameron Brink and Rickea Jackson, two of the highest draft picks in the recent WNBA Draft, had to show up to support their LA Clippers.
Brink and Jackson were seen at midcourt getting a photograph ahead of the game.
The duo will now team up together on the LA Sparks
Both players were drafted in the top four overall picks in the first round of the 2024 WNBA Draft. And it looks like they are wasting little time in getting acquainted with one another on Wednesday evening.
According to Spotrac, Brink’s will sign a four-year contract worth $338,056 and will make $76,535 during her rookie season.
In 2025, Brink will make $78,066 and will then make $85,873 in 2026. The fourth year is an option, and Brink is slated to make $97,582.
The Sparks are hoping Brink make the same impact she did while playing at Stanford. The 22-year-old led the Cardinal to a national title in 2021 and was named Naismith Defensive Player of the Year in 2024. Brink was also named Pac-12 Player of the Year in 2022 and 2024 and a three-time Pac-12 Defensive Player of the Year selection.
On the night of the 2024 WNBA Draft, Cameron Brink was excited to get to work with her new team and teammates.
“I think I fell in love with the game even more just being here in New York with these girls,” Brink said. “I feel like my passion has just reignited and the college season is hard, but I’m just so looking forward to a new challenge and ready to get to work.”
Brink and Jackson will have similar contracts
Rickea Jackson has a four-year deal valued at $338,056. She’ll have an option in Year 4 of the deal once the 2027 cycle begins.
Jackson started her college career at Mississippi State, playing three seasons with the Bulldogs. She led Mississippi State in scoring all three years, including as a freshman when she put up 15.1 points, 5.1 rebounds and 1.2 assists per game.
During her final year at Mississippi State, Jackson led the SEC in scoring for the first time in her career, averaging 20.3 points and 6.8 rebounds. However, after 15 games that season, she decided to enter the portal.
Jackson spent the 2022-23 season at Tennessee and was a lethal scorer for the Vols. She averaged 19.2 points and 6.1 rebounds per game in only 28 minutes per night. She opted to use her COVID year and play in 2023-24 as she once again led the SEC in scoring.
Over the course of her college career, Rickea Jackson averaged 17.8 points per game across five seasons. She appeared in 127 games, making 106 starts.
The Sparks have been in the WNBA since 1997. In their history, the Sparks have won three WNBA titles, and their most famous player is Lisa Leslie who played for the Sparks from 1997-2009. Leslie’s No. 9 jersey is retired along with Penny Toler’s No. 11. Toler player for the Sparks 1997-1999.
