Houston cornerback Isaiah Hamilton has entered the NCAA Transfer Portal, On3 has learned. He will have at least one year of eligibility remaining.

Hamilton had entered the transfer portal in December 2023 but later withdrew. He spent the winter and spring at Houston before now re-entering.

He started his career at Texas Southern, where he spent three seasons before arriving at Houston in 2023.

In 12 appearances for the Cougars, Isaiah Hamilton had 50 tackles and 3.5 tackles for loss to go with four interceptions — including a pick-six. His decision to enter the portal came after the NCAA sent guidance to schools on Thursday that multi-time transfers who enter the transfer portal this fall or winter will be eligible to play at a new school in the 2024-25 academic year without securing a waiver. On3 obtained the memo.

Houston made a coaching change after the 2023 season, opting to move on from Dana Holgersen and hire Tulane’s Willie Fritz to take over the program. The Cougars had an up-and-down first season in the Big 12, finishing with a 4-8 record.

A former Houston star is on the mend after getting shot

The Houston Chronicle’s Aaron Wilson reported Sunday that Houston Texans wide receiver Tank Dell was shot on Saturday night in a Florida nightclub, caught in the crossfire of a multi-person altercation he was not involved in.

Dell was a victim and innocent bystander in the mass shooting, sustaining minor wounds before being released from the hospital on Sunday. He’s expected to make a full recovery.

The Houston Texans released a statement regarding Dell and the shooting that can be seen below.

“We have been made aware that Tank Dell was a victim of a shooting in Sanford, Fla. last night,” the statement read. “He sustained a minor wound but has been released from the hospital and he is in good spirits. We are in contact with him and his family and will provide more updates when appropriate but we ask that you please respect his privacy at this time. Our thoughts and prayers are with everyone involved in the incident.”

Dell is a Florida native, visiting his home state during the offseason before a verbal altercation escalated at Cabana Live, an event venue and restaurant located in Sanford, Florida. Where he was one of 10 victims who suffered a non-life-threatening gunshot wound outside of the establishment during a private event according to News 6 Orlando.

Dell recently made a full and speedy recovery following a season-ending injury sustained last year in his rookie season with the Texans. Suffering a broken fibula in Week 13 versus the Denver Broncos after posting an impressive 47 receptions for 709 yards and seven touchdowns in 11 games for his first NFL season.
