Take a quick snap-shot around the Carolina’s landscape, and you quickly see that four-star Isaiah Evans is having one of the best seasons in the region. Evans is a lengthy 6-foot-6 guard who has simply put on scoring displays using a quick release and a lethal jump shot.

On Thursday night, Huntersville (NC) North Mecklenburg High School walked away with a decisive 86-61 win to move on to the Sweet 16 of the NCHSAA 4A State Tournament. Evans, the No. 29 player in the 2024 On3 Consensus, scored 44 of the team’s 86 points.

This game was the fourth time this season he has gone over the 40-point mark and the eighth time he scored more than 35. Evans is averaging a robust 26.8 points while shooting over 50 percent from the field on the season. North Mecklenburg is now 27-2 and will play Kernersville (NC) East Forsyth on Saturday.

Evans recruitment

The numbers Isaiah Evans has put up this season are turning coaches’ heads around the landscape. The junior wing now carries an offer list that is approaching 30 programs. Just last week, Duke’s Jon Scheyer and Amile Jefferson stopped by to catch the North Mecklenburg first-round win. Evans visited Duke unofficially earlier this year.

The four-star has only taken an official visit to Florida State at this point. He has been on unofficial visits to the likes of NC State, Tennessee, and Georgia. Evans does not have any official visits set yet, but he plans on taking some after this playoff run.

Without a question, Isaiah Evans is having one of the more exciting and productive seasons in his region and should be on the very short list for North Carolina’s Gatorade Player of the Year.
