Former Mississippi State Bulldogs running back Simeon Price has a new home for the upcoming 2024 college football season. It has taken him some time, but Price has committed to playing for the Coastal Carolina Chanticleers of the Sun Belt Conference next season.

The former Bulldog did not waste any time entering his name into the transfer portal. Shortly after Mississippi’s 2023 campaign came to an unceremonious end, he opted to enter his name, which was back in mid-November. Since then, Price has taken his time, missing spring practices this offseason. Still, he has landed at Coastal Carolina just in time to take part in the Chanticleers’ summer and fall camp portion of the offseason.

Price redshirted his freshman year with Mississippi State and put up decent numbers in 2022, totaling 150 rushing yards while adding 113 receiving yards and a touchdown in the passing game.

Price played high school football at West Florida Tech (Fla.), where he was a three-star prospect. He was the No. 629 overall recruit in the 2021 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

Predicting the win total ceiling, floor for Mississippi State in 2024

The 2024 football season will mark the start of the Jeff Lebby era in Starkville, with the longtime offensive coordinator making his head coaching debut this season as he’ll look to set a new standard at Mississippi State.

Like most head coaching jobs that become available following a head coach being fired during the season, there’s no question that there’s plenty of work to be done for the Bulldogs. Not to mention that the SEC gets stronger this upcoming season with the additions of Texas and Oklahoma along with stakes increasing with the expanded 12-team College Football Playoff.

Expectations are tempered for Mississippi State this upcoming season with a brand new coaching staff and a roster of fresh faces that will take on what most believe is the toughest conference in college football. But On3’s Andy Staples and Cody Bellaire spoke about what the best and worst possible version of the 2024 season would look like for the Bulldogs.
