Michael Pratt rookie contract figures with Green Bay Packers revealed after 2024 NFL Draft
Michael Pratt is the newest Packers quarterback, with Green Bay selecting the former Tulane star with the 245th overall pick of the NFL Draft.
Pratt had fallen a little lower than what most analysts initially projected. Here’s what his contract will be. He’ll sign a four-year deal worth $4.104 million. That averages to $1.026 million.
Obviously, the Packers don’t need Pratt to start this season. Jordan Love, after last season in Green Bay, is a rising star in the NFL. But every team needs a quality backup. That was proven last season across the NFL as so many quarterbacks, from Joe Burrow to Aaron Rodgers to Deshaun Watson, had their seasons cut short because of significant injuries.
Pratt helped turn Tulane into a Group of Five power. He started 44 games with the Green Wave. He earned Offensive Player of the Year honors last season for the All-American Athletic Conference. He also was first-team all-conference QB.
He threw for 9,603 yards with 90 touchdowns in his career at Tulane while completing nearly 61 percent of his passes. He also rushed for 1,147 yards with 26 touchdowns.
Newest Packers QB was 11th to go at his position
Pratt was the 11th quarterback to go in the draft. Quarterbacks dominated early, with six going amongst the top 12 in Thursday’s first round. However, no quarterbacks appeared in the second or third rounds, Friday night. Then five heard their names on Saturday, the draft’s final session.
The Packers went for Pratt deep into the seventh round. Earlier in the day, the Saints selected South Carolina’s Spencer Rattler in the fifth round. Later in the round, the Jets picked Jordan Travis of Florida State. In the sixth, the Patriots opted for Joe Milton of Tennessee. Then the Ravens selected Kentucky’s Devin Leary. Pratt was the lone QB in the seventh round.
There still were other quarterbacks on the board, including Notre Dame’s Sam Hartman and Central Florida’s John Rhys Plumlee when the Packers picked.
