Decision Day: Will Alabama land coveted 2024 PF Jarin Stevenson?
It’s commitment day for Jarin Stevenson, one of the most sought-after basketball prospects in the country and a priority Alabama target.
The 2024 recruit, a product of Pittsboro (N.C.) Seaforth High, is slated to announce his college decision on Wednesday night. There is another layer to his recruitment as Stevenson is a reclassification candidate. He previously told On3’s Joe Tipton that he is “50/50” on whether or not he will reclassify to the 2023 class.

Alabama target Jarin Stevenson’s coach/dad speaks with BOL prior to Wednesday’s commitment
Jarin Stevenson logged a handful of official visits in his recruitment, including ones to each of his finalists. He officially visited Virginia (April 10), Alabama (May 6), and North Carolina (May 30).
Ahead of his decision, BamaOnLine caught up with Stevenson’s father and head coach, Jarod Stevenson. Jarod Stevenson opened up about all three finalists, saying the following about Nate Oats’ program.
“They play a great system,” Coach Stevenson told BOL. “I think a system that fits Jarin’s skill set. I think [Coach Oats] develops players. Think he might have two players who go in the first round of the draft. That’s a good selling point. I feel he does a great job of breaking down players and showing them what they can do better to get to the next level. We like that a lot.”

Earlier this month, On3’s Joe Tipton caught up with Stevenson himself regarding his recent official visit to Alabama. Stevenson, who plays with the Team United Program on Nike’s EYBL Circuit, spoke highly about the Crimson Tide.
“Great coaching staff,” Stevenson previously said. “Coach (Christian) Pino and coach Oats are great people. They definitely know their stuff and they run an NBA offense. They also have good defense over there, so I like that about them a lot. Great school.”
Whoever does land Stevenson tonight is getting a highly touted basketball player. The 2024 On3 Industry Rankings tab Stevenson as the No. 20 overall prospect in his class. He’s also viewed as the No. 4 power forward and the top-ranked player in North Carolina.
As noted in his On3 biography, Stevenson’s mother, Nicole (Walker) Stevenson, won three ACC championships from 1995-1998 at North Carolina. His father, Jarod Stevenson, played at Richmond, where he scored a career 4,000-plus points and shot 39 percent from three-point range. He also played internationally for more than a decade.
