BREAKING: JUCO C Noah Boyde commits to LSU
Noah Boyde, a 7-foot, 230-pound sophomore power forward from McCook (Nebraska) C.C., committed to LSU, he told On3’s Joe Tipton on Thursday. He picked the Tigers over Oregon and Wisconsin.
Nebraska, Baylor, Oklahoma, Colorado, Washington State, Cal, and Utah State also offered. Kansas, Ohio State, and Iowa State all showed interest in him. He officially visited Cal, UAB and Nebraska as well. Boyde originally signed with Baylor this fall.
In five games this season, the St. Lucia native averaged 12.6 points on 53.3 percent shooting from the field while grabbing 6.2 rebounds and notching .8 blocks per game.
Boyde averaged 10.9 points, 8.5 rebounds, and 1.5 blocks per game in 2022-23 as a freshman at McCook. That included a dominant performance against Western Nebraska C.C., where he posted 12 points, 18 boards, and six blocks.
LSU was already up to 12 scholarship players, its limit for the 2024-25 season. Matt McMahon’s program is in the final year of a self-imposed scholarship suspension and will return to the normal 13-player scholarship cap in 2025.
For now, LSU continues to rebuild its roster after losing several veterans, including seniors Jordan Wright, Trae Hannibal, and Will Baker. LSU has added Cam Carter from Kansas State, Jordan Sears from UT Martin, and Dji Bailey from Richmond. In addition, the Tigers have a top-15 class of freshman coming in with Vyctorious Miller, Robert Miller, and Curtis Givens, a trio of four-star prospects who can help McMahon’s team this season.
With that in mind, Boyde will have to be a walk-on or some other roster management will have to come into play for the Tigers.
