Report: Illinois State transfer F Myles Foster to visit Notre Dame on Wednesday
The Irish need frontcourt help in the transfer portal, and it could come in the form of former Illinois State forward Myles Foster. According to CBB Content on social media, Foster is set to visit Notre Dame on Wednesday.

Standing at 6-foot-7, 235 pounds, Foster features a 7-foot-4 wingspan and plays a 7-footer’s game. He averaged 12.4 points per game this past season at Illinois State on 52.5 percent shooting, along with 8.1 rebounds. 2023-24 was his first year with the Redbirds, as he spent his first three seasons at Monmouth.
Foster averaged 12.5 points per game as a junior with the Hawks, but he improved his efficiency (previously 46.0 percent from the field) and rebounding (previously 6.6 boards per game) when he moved to the Missouri Valley Conference.
The vast majority of Foster’s shots come from the paint. He has made only one 3-pointer in his career on 17 attempts, but he has the strength to score in the low post. Foster proved he can play against high-major competition Dec. 29 in a 96-70 loss to Kentucky, in which he scored 20 points on 8-of-11 shooting and grabbed 15 rebounds.
After he entered the transfer portal on April 7, Foster told college basketball insider Adam Zagoria that he had heard from the following schools: Arizona State, USC, Tennessee, SMU, Florida State, San Diego State, Oklahoma State, Colorado, Florida, Seton Hall, DePaul, Minnesota, Virginia, Grand Canyon McNeese State, Rhode Island, Duquesne, North Texas and Loyola Chicago.
He also told Zagoria on April 28 that he had conducted a Zoom call with USC and planned to do the same with SMU. To Blue & Gold’s knowledge, Notre Dame is the first school Foster will visit in person since he became available.
Foster would fill Notre Dame’s need for a big man in the transfer portal. The Irish, as currently constructed, will only have three forwards on their 2024-25 roster: Junior Tae Davis, sophomore Kebba Njie and freshman Garrett Sundra.
Of those three, only Njie plays a traditional post-player role. Davis is a wing ball-handler and slasher, while Sundra is a stretch four. Given Foster’s skillset, he would likely compete with Njie for playing time and a spot in Notre Dame’s starting lineup.
The Irish currently have 12 scholarship players for the 2024-25 season, although one of them, senior guard Tony Sanders Jr., has not made an official announcement about his future but is not expected to return to Notre Dame.
The scholarship limit is 13, so the Irish likely have two spots available for transfers in addition to former Princeton guard Matt Allocco, who committed to Notre Dame on April 17. If Wednesday’s visit goes well, one of them could go to Foster.
