Business is picking up again for Ole Miss and head coach Lane Kiffin. The Grove Bowl is this weekend, but the festivities are starting early as Saraland (Miss.) wide receiver Dillon Alfred has committed to the Rebels.

Alfred, the 381st overall prospect in On3’s 2025 Industry Ranking, is the No. 54 wide receiver in the country. He is now Alabama’s 17th-ranked junior prospect. The 6-foot, 167 pound prospect had a banner campaign for Gautier High School in 2022. He hauled in 58 receptions for 1,310 yards and 16 touchdowns as a sophomore.

After making the move across state lines to Saraland, Alfred continued to put up numbers. In 12 games, he helped Saraland to a runner-up finish in Alabama’s 6A classification. He snagged 35 receptions for 586 yards and sixs touchdowns.

Dillon Alfred got to meet new Ole Miss wide receivers coach George McDonald during his last visit.

The midweek trip this week solidified what Alfred already knew.

“It felt awesome to get back,” Alfred said. “Mississippi will always be a special place. I feel really good about him being the wide receivers coach at Ole Miss.

“He has the experience and knowledge,” Alfred said. “He made a great impact during my visit.”

Ole Miss outpaced the likes of Alabama, Missouri and Tennessee for the commitment.

Auburn, South Carolina, Arkansas, LSU, Florida State and Oregon were also in the mix throughout his recruitment. He has official visits scheduled for Arkansas and Missouri. If he indeed still takes those trips remains to be seen.

Kelvin Bolden and McDonald played a huge role here in landing Alfred. The two tag-teamed the recruitment, fending off all comers to snag a big play wideout for the 2025 class. He joins four-star running back Akylin Dear and three-star defenders Talib Graham and Corey Amos.
