TCU defensive lineman transfer Damonic Williams is set to visit Oklahoma for its spring game this weekend, On3’s Hayes Fawcett reports.

On3’s Pete Nakos reported Wednesday that the sophomore DL planned to enter the NCAA transfer portal.

This past season at TCU, Williams compiled 33 tackles, 5.0 tackles for loss, and 3.0 sacks, earning honors as an All-Big 12 Honorable-Mention.

During TCU’s national championship run the season before, Williams started all 15 of the Horned Frogs games while logging 27 tackles, 1.5 sacks, and 4.5 tackles for loss, and a forced fumble. He was named a Freshman All-American and an Honorable-Mention for Big 12 Defensive Freshman of the Year.

Before his college career, Williams was a three-star prospect out of Bishop Alemany High School in Mission Hills (CA), where he was ranked the No. 616 overall player and No. 71 defensive lineman in the country for the 2022 recruiting cycle according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a proprietary algorithm that compiles ratings and rankings from all four primary recruiting media services.

In total, Williams’ departure has seen 13 TCU players depart from the program this offseason. Williams, along with quarterback Chandler Morris, are arguably the biggest transfer portal losses for the Horned Frogs. However, TCU has added 19 players through transfer portal so far this offseason, ranking the Horned Frogs No. 18 in On3’s 2024 College Football Team Transfer Portal Rankings.

If the Sooners can secure a transfer commitment for Williams, they’ll be getting a ready-made performer that can start immediately at the nose guard position. The 317-pounds interior defensive lineman has disrupted offensive lines for two seasons in Corpus Cristi, and is poised to continue that no matter where he lands out of the portal.

After finishing the 2022-23 season with a 6-7 record, Oklahoma improved tremendously in its final season in the Big 12 Conference. Finishing this past year with a 10-3 record, the Sooners will enter the SEC this offseason and are expected to hold their own within the conference right away. Adding Williams to the mix defensively could go a long way to aid in those efforts.

The Sooners’ spring game is scheduled for Saturday, April 20 at 1 p.m. local time inside Oklahoma Memorial Stadium. Tickets for the annual event are available to be purchased on the Sooner Sports website.
