Lee’s Summit (Mo.) North four-star receiver Isaiah Mozee tells On3 he has committed to Oregon on Wednesday, giving his pledge to a head coach in Dan Lanning that he’s literally known since he was a toddler.

Mozee’s father Jamar, who was his head coach the last three seasons before taking an opportunity at UCF, cut his teeth as a young coach alongside Lanning at Park Hill South High in Kansas City.

“Isaiah was running around practice every day,” Jamar said. “My dad or someone would drop him off and me and Dan would be there. That relationship started then and none of knew we’d get to this day now which makes a huge difference, that piece of it.”

Mozee was a top target for Lanning and the Ducks

The younger Mozee, a 6-foot, 190-pound playmaker, chose Oregon over his other finalists in Missouri, Oklahoma, Tennessee and Ole Miss among others.

“It feels like home me every time I am out there,” Isaiah said. “I like the direction Oregon is going. Dan has done a great job with the program. I’ve known Dan for a long time so that relationship is a huge factor!”

Offensive coordinator Will Stein and receivers coach Junior Adams were also heavily involved in recruiting Mozee who the On3 Industry ranks as the country’s No. 27 receiver and No. 214 prospect overall.

“It sounds cliché when people say relationships and staff but the unique relationship with him and Coach Lanning it’s unique,” Jamar said.

“I think they’re good people. Junior Adams recruited him, Will Stein the offensive coordinator has been good, they all did a good job how they handled him and seeing the way their program is trending in a strong direction. They throw the ball, use their receivers in different ways, work to different strengths of their players. All those things.”

Mozee was last in Eugene the first weekend of February.

“The Ducks are very consistent,” he said at the time.

Now he’s in the fold. Commit No. 6 in the class, part of a terrific receiver trio joining On3 Industry five-star Dallas Wilson and four-star Cooper Perry. In his prep career Mozee has racked up 160 receptions for 2,193 yards and 29 touchdowns.
