The Texas Longhorns have been dealing with some nasty weather on Thursday evening, with wind and thunderstorms pummeling their baseball stadium. The batter’s eye in center field just folded in half. Here’s the picture below from Greg Swindell.

First pitch was moved back to 7:00 PM EST due to weather, according to the Texas baseball Twitter account.

Texas has put together an okay season this year, with a 33-20 overall record and a 18-10 record in the Big 12. The Longhorns managed to pull out the win on Thursday, coming away with a 5-4 win.

Texas got some solid offense from a number of bats. Casey Borba blasted a solo shot in the bottom of the ninth inning, tying the game at 4-4 on a pinch hit. Then they got the game-winning run from Jalin Fores, who doubled to right center field, bringing in the game-clinching run to lift the ‘Horns to a 5-4 victory. They got a great day from Will Gasparino, who went 2-for-4 at the plate, finishing with two RBIs.

Pitcher Charlie Hurley threw nine strikeouts in six innings for the Longhorns. He also allowed four hits and walked one batter. As a total pitching staff, the Longhorns pitchers threw 13 strikeouts in nine innings, while allowing four earned runs and four hits. They also walked two batters.

Their three-game series with the Kansas Jayhawks will continue on Friday and Saturday. And that will wrap up the Longhorns 2024 regular season.

John Nett had a great day at the plate for Kansas, finishing 4-for-5 with one RBI. Slugger Ben Hartl also had a solid showing for the Jayhawks, connecting on a two-run blast in his lone hit on the day.

There have been some very severe storms in the state of Texas, including some particularly violent storms in the Houston area, which caused an extensive amount of damage on Thursday. Plenty of different places across the United States have been dealing with thunderstorms this weekend, but the Texas area had some areas that got hit harder than others.

We’ll have to see how the weather impacts games around the country the rest of the weekend. They’re certainly expecting storms in a number of areas and plenty of games on Friday have been rescheduled around the weather.
