A lot of people are invested in when Kyle Larson is going to land in Wilkes County. His flight was one of the most tracked in the world on FlightRadar24. The NASCAR star had to leave Indianapolis after qualifying P5 to go race for $1,000,000.

Last year, Kyle Larson dominated the All-Star Race. He lapped practically the entire field. Oh, and he had an early penalty that sent him to the rear early in that race, too. So, he isn’t worried about starting in the rear.

Over 3,000 people were watching the helicopter ride to the private jet. Larson landed in Wilkes County at the airport, and took a heli over to the race track. That helicopter ride to the track was also among the most-tracked flights in the world, with over 5,600 people following along.

It’s like Taylor Swift flying from one of her shows to a Kansas City Chiefs game – everyone is trying to find where the plane is and when it is going to land. Larson is the star of the motorsports world right now and it shows in things like this.

The fact that Kyle Larson made the Fast 6 is impressive. He’s going to start the Indy 500 P5 on the second row. A huge achievement for the rookie in his first-ever attempt at Indy.

Watching Larson do what he does in NASCAR makes it easy to forget how talented he is. People don’t give the sprint car drivers he races against enough credit, either. But when he jumps into an IndyCar and hits speeds of 235 MPH+ and even beats a majority of the field in qualifying – it is a hell of a reminder.

Kyle Larson proving he might be the best race car driver alive

A lot of work is still ahead of Kyle Larson. However, this Double Duty attempt is more than just doing something cool. It is a chance to make history. Only Tony Stewart has ever finished both the Indy 500 and Coke 600 on the lead lap.

There are few in the world who can do what Larson did this weekend. Even fewer who would be able to attempt the Double that Larson has ahead of him. If you didn’t watch the Hendrick driver work this week in Indianapolis, then I am very sorry for you.

There are few moments in motorsports where a driver at the prime of their career does something like this. Heads to another series that he has never raced in before, and picks it up quickly. When Stewart did his Double Duty attempts, he already had IndyCar experience. He was a former champion.

Kyle Larson has an opportunity to do something special a week from now. Hell, he’s got a chance to do something unprecedented tonight. Qualify in the Fast 6 at Indy and then win the NASCAR All-Star Race. Should be a fun show.
