DaShawn Jones, a transfer cornerback from Wake Forest, has committed to Alabama out of the portal. On3’s Hayes Fawcett reported the news.

Jones has spent the last three years with the Demon Deacons as he just completed his redshirt sophomore season in Winston-Salem. Over the past two campaigns, he appeared in 22 games with nine starts coming this past season.

During that time, Jones posted 61 tackles, seven deflections, and a trio of interceptions. He did most of that work in 2023 with 37 tackles, a pair of deflections, and all three of his picks, which were a team lead.

However, he ended his career at Wake by entering his name into the portal on the final day of April. Since then, he has picked up legitimate interest from several high-level programs. Still, after taking a visit to Tuscaloosa on May 4th, Alabama earned RPM Predictions from On3’s Pete Nakos as well as Steve Wiltfong, both that were at a 60% projection and each which have since come into reality, that he’d commit to the Crimson Tide.

Jones, a native of Baltimore, was a three-star prospect in 2021 at Mount Saint Joseph. He came out as a Top-1,500 recruit, a Top-150 CB, and a Top-40 player out of Maryland.

Now, after three years with the program, Jones is one of 14 transfers to leave Wake Forest. He was one of five to leave from their defensive side of the football, including one of two from the secondary along with S Brendon Harris (MTSU).

Jones is now the latest addition from out of the portal for Kalen DeBoer and the Crimson Tide.
