Auburn cornerback Colton Hood enters NCAA transfer portal
Auburn cornerback Colton Hood has entered the NCAA transfer portal, On3 has learned.
Hood was a four-star recruit and the No. 383 overall player in the country in the class of 2023, per the On3 Industry rankings.
The Georgia native appeared in four games while redshirting in 2023. He finished his first season of college football with three tackles.
Colton Hood played on both sides of the ball at Eagle’s Landing Christian Academy prior to coming to Auburn.
As a senior, he was named the 2022 Region 5-2A Athlete of the Year. Hood recorded 40 tackles and had three interceptions defensively as a senior.
Colton Hood also starred on the baseball field, earning all-state honors, in addition to running track and playing basketball. He helped the Tigers to a 6-7 record in 2023.
Keyron Crawford commits to Auburn out of the NCAA Transfer Portal
While the transfer portal has cost Auburn some players this cycle it has also helped some.
Keyron Crawford, formerly of Arkansas State, committed to Auburn out of the transfer portal on Monday, the school announced via social media.
Crawford had spent the last two seasons with the Red Wolves in Jonesboro.
In that time, Crawford posted 58 tackles, 6.5 sacks, a pair of forced fumbles with two recoveries, and then two deflections.
That includes quite a breakout for Crawford as a sophomore last fall where he started in all 13 outings. By the end of the year, he put 44 tackles, 5.5 sacks, all of his production in the fumble department, and one pass deflection. His fumble statistics were best on the defense while his sacks were second by 0.5, even if he had nine more sack yards.
Crawford, a native of Memphis, Tennessee, played high school football at Briarcrest Christian. He was a three-star prospect there as the No. 999 overall recruit in the 2022 cycle. That’s according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He rated as the No. 75 EDGE in the class and the No. 31 player out of his state.
Crawford then joined Arkansas State as the fourth-highest rated recruit in their Top-75 class in 2022.
Crawford was one of 10 transfers to leave the Red Wolves in the transfer portal over the course of this offseason. Six of them, including him, came from the defensive side of the ball. They also lost two defensive linemen in Ashtin Rustemeyer and Treviance Bronson, two linebackers in Gavin Potter and Javante Mackey, and a corner in Taylon Doss. Only three have committed to new programs with Potter headed to Tulsa, Mackey going to Memphis, and OT Saidou Ba leaving for Tennessee State.
