Ohio State TE Joe Royer enters NCAA Transfer Portal
Ohio State tight end Joe Royer officially entered the NCAA Transfer Portal on Thursday evening, On3 has learned. He played for the Buckeyes from 2021 to 2023. The past three seasons, he tallied four catches for 24 yards. Royer also hauled in two catches for 10 yards against Georgia (2022) in the College Football Playoff Semifinals at the Peach Bowl.
A native of Cincinnati, Ohio, Royer played his high school football for Elder. Coming out of high school, he was ranked as a four-star prospect and the No. 395 overall player in the country, according to the On3 Industry Rankings for the 2020 cycle.
As a senior, he helped guide Elder to the Division I state finals, hauling in 70 catches for 1,258 yards and 15 touchdowns. He earned first team All-Ohio honors from the Ohio Prep Sportswriter’s Association. As a junior, Royer hauled in 31 catches for 612 yards and five touchdowns.
An excellent student, he also earned Academic All-Big Ten honors in 2021.
