Wrap Video — Purdue's win at Illinois

Purdue star Zach Edey has seen it all over his four seasons of college basketball. The reigning National Player of the Year was recently asked to use his experiences to rank a variety of topics involving Big Ten programs.

The Big Ten recently released a video of Zach Edey listing his top three uniforms, arenas, most entertaining coaches and more among Big Ten teams.

Starting with uniforms, Edey’s top three consisted of No. 3 Maryland, No. 2 Northwestern and No. 1 Michigan State.

“I think I like Maryland’s. Maryland’s is pretty cool. I’ll put them at No. 3,” Zach Edey said. “I kind of like the colors that Northwestern has, a little purple and white.

“I’ll put State at 1. I like the classic [look]. It hasn’t really changed too much.”

As for arenas, Zach Edey ranked Nebraska No. 3, Minnesota No. 2 and Michigan State No. 1.

“I actually like Nebraska’s arena a lot. They have very good fans,” Edey said. “I like how Minnesota’s is very unique — The Barn. I’ve heard a lot of stories. … I like Michigan State’s.”

Up next, Edey ranked the most entertaining coaches in the Big Ten. He has Brad Underwood of Illinois No. 3, Michigan‘s Juwan Howard No. 2 and Tom Izzo from Michigan State No. 1.

“I’ll put Brad Underwood at No. 3. He’s usually yelling about something, a pretty passionate coach,” Edey said. “Juwan Howard at No. 2. I remember him, I think my freshman or sophomore year, I like scored, and I looked over at their bench, and he’s just like staring daggers at me.

“And then No. 1 is Izzo. I can’t even say half the stuff I’ve heard him yelling at games but he’s funny as a coach. He’s definitely very passionate. All three of them are.”

Finally, Zach Edey concluded by ranking the three best road trips in the Big Ten. He ranked them: No. 3 Northwestern, No. 2 Michigan and No. 1 Illinois.

“Northwestern’s a pretty quick trip, so I’ll put that at No. 3,” Edey said. “Michigan’s pretty close, No. 2. And then No. 1 is Illinois, because we get the Beef House on the way. They’ve got great rolls.”

Following Purdue’s win over Illinois on Tuesday, Edey had a funny tweet about Beef House.

Edey scored 28 points and pulled down 8 rebounds against the Illini as he continues to make his case to win the National Player of the Year for the second consecutive season.

So far in 2023-24, Edey is averaging 24.1 points and 11.7 rebounds per game. He led Purdue to its second straight outright Big Ten title this season.
