Jimbo Fisher provides injury update on Le'Veon Moss, Noah Thomas
Jimbo Fisher absolutely needed to get on win on Saturday, with a struggling South Carolina team coming to College Station. Texas A&M wound up getting the job done, cruising to a 13-point win and improving to 5-3 this season. Unfortunately, there were some injuries the Aggies had to deal with.
One was wide receiver Noah Thomas, who got blown up on a play and immediately went down. Fisher revealed Thomas just got the wind knocked out of him, even though he did not return. A positive sign for Texas A&M.
“He got the wind knocked out of him,” Fisher said. “He was cleared to come back.”
Thomas has been part of an impressive Texas A&M wide receiver corps this season but did not have too big of an impact vs. South Carolina. He caught two passes for a total of 16 yards. Thankfully, there is no serious injury and Thomas can try to make a bigger impact moving forward.
Before the game even kicked off, there was a serious injury Texas A&M had to deal with. Running back Le’Veon Moss did not play against South Carolina, although the position group is a deep one. Moss suffered a pulled hamstring and was considered a game-time decision. Of course, he wound up not playing and resting.
As for Moss’ status moving into the next week, where Texas A&M will travel to Oxford for an SEC West matchup against Ole Miss, Fisher believes he will be “good to go.”
Texas A&M gets important win, moves onto Ole Miss
In their two previous games, Texas A&M dropped winnable games against Alabama and Tennessee. Pressure was once again beginning to mount for Fisher, with his contract buyout being a key storyline despite the Aggies being on a bye.
Had Texas A&M lost to South Carolina, there would have been serious discussion about some kind of move being made. The bleeding has been halted for the time being, with the program being able to enjoy a win. As they say — winning can fix everything, regardless of the situation.
The schedule is not getting any easier, though. Ole Miss will play host on Saturday coming off some time off of their own. Lane Kiffin has his team rolling in recent times and usually likes to have some fun when facing off against Fisher.
Next week in Oxford will give us a better picture of how Texas A&M’s season will unfold. Hopefully, they will be back at 100% health-wise.
