Breaking down the biggest risers in the updated 2024 On300 rankings
After roughly the first month of the high school football season, On3 has released its updated player rankings in the 2024 On300.
The update includes five new 5-star prospects, as well as a host of others who made major moves up the rankings after hot starts to their senior seasons.
On3 Scouting and Rankings Assistant Cody Bellaire helps us break down which prospects made major ascents and what stood out about their early-season performances.
4-star TE Trey’Dez Green
Previous Ranking: No. 126
New Ranking: No. 39
School: Jackson (La.) Zachary
Status: Committed to LSU
Scouting Take: Trey’Dez Green has shown early on in his senior season tremendous flashes of elite ball skills and athletic ability for the tight end position. The nearly 6-foot-7 pass catcher is borderline impossible to defend against when playing above the rim and is showing signs of nuanced route running and improved body control. The tight end prospect transferred to Zachary HS for his senior season from East Feliciana where he was a stand out basketball player. But with this move to Zachary, he has focused more on reshaping and building his body for the next level and it appears to be paying off exponentially. — Cody Bellaire
4-star WR Jeremiah McClellan

Status: Committed to Ohio State
Scouting Take: Jeremiah McClellan is a player that On3 had the benefit of seeing light the football field on fire during the summer. McClellan was unstoppable during the OT7 7-on-7 Finals and has stacked some dominant film as a senior upon that summer performance. He continues to prove his versatility as an offensive weapon. McClellan can win in the slot with his twitch and change of direction and he can win on the outside with his route running and ability to push the field vertically. He’s also a menace with the football making defenders whiff tackles in open space and is a physical runner. McClellan is proving he can be a threat to defenses no matter where he lines up. — Cody Bellaire
4-star EDGE Bryce Young

Status: Committed to Notre Dame
Scouting Take: Bryce Young has always had the athletic profile to shine on the football field and he had done it up to this point in flashes. And in this first sample size of his senior season he seems to have really put it all together. Young is full of twitch and burst, but what he’s been able to do as a senior in comparison to his previous seasons is being able to show it off on every snap. Pass rush, chasing backside, pursuing to the flat, striking defenders at the point of attack. No matter what he’s been asked to do he has done it at 100 miles per hour. He has become consistently disruptive and that is the type of play that translates to the next level. — Cody Bellaire
4-star WR Dillon Gresham

Scouting Take: Dillon Gresham has always been an explosive field-stretcher that can take the top off of opposing defenses with ease. But early in his senior season he has proven that he can be a weapon at all levels of the field. He’s shown the ability to win in the middle of the field and as an underneath threat with his change of direction and fluidity as a route runner. He displays this fluidity with the ball in his hands as well by making defenders miss in a phone booth. But don’t get it twisted, Gresham is still a monster of a deep threat and he seems even sharper when it comes to his ball tracking downfield. The more he polishes his game, the higher his floor raises as a receiver prospect. — Cody Bellaire

Scouting Take: Kewan Lacy has shown early on in his senior season that he can absolutely carry the load in the run game when he steps onto a college campus. His ability to burst and accelerate through the hole while maintaining excellent body control and wiggle makes him a terror for opposing defenses. His leg drive and physicality essentially makes him a battering ram with the ball in his hands and being able to finish and run behind your pads at the next level is a very translatable skill. — Cody Bellaire

Status: Committed to Michigan State
Scouting Take: Reggie Powers has always been an enforcer in the run game. His ability to trigger and play downhill is textbook for the safety position. And as a senior, he has added another tool to his bag; center fielder. He has displayed the range and long speed necessary in order to thrive as a middle of the field safety at the next level. If Powers can maintain consistency in developing his skillset in the back half and continue playing with discipline around the box he will be a dominant three-down weapon in the secondary. — Cody Bellaire
4-star QB Aidan Glover

School: Collierville (Tenn)
Status: Committed to Missouri
Scouting Take: Aidan Glover oozes upside and projectable traits. The second year starter has increased his completion percentage and yards per game through 5 games his senior season and already has 18 total touchdowns. For reference, Glover had 24 total touchdowns the entire last season. His ability to maneuver from within the pocket and deliver strikes downfield as well as creating plays from outside the pocket and as a runner make him an extremely exciting option at the quarterback position. He has the physical and athletic tools to play at the highest levels of collegiate football and we’re excited to see how he professes throughout the season. — Cody Bellaire
