Five-star cornerback Devin Sanchez of Houston (TX) North Shore High announced his commitment to Ohio State Saturday afternoon.

The 6-foot-2, 180 pounder chose the Buckeyes over Texas A&M and Alabama.

“Just the relationship I built with coach Walton and seeing what he has done these past two years. Especially this past season with Denzel and Davison, I think he could do the same with me.”

His relationship with the coaching staff and their plan for him played a role in his decision as well.

“Coach Walt and he wants me to play. So when I get there I’m going to work and earn that spot.”

The Lone Star State cornerback joins coach Ryan Day and the Buckeyes’ top 5 2025 class. He is accompanied by four-star quarterback Tavien St. Clari, four-star cornerback Blake Woodby, and others.

Scouting Summary

On3’s Scouting and Rankings Team writes about him as a college recruit:

“Tall, athletic cornerback with a high level of technical skill as an underclassman prospect. Stars for one of the top high school football programs in the state of Texas. Listed at an unverified 6-foot-2, 170 pounds. Took a big jump as a sophomore, showing lockdown tendencies, particularly in man coverage. Smooth and technical with the footwork, instincts and play speed to stay attached. Makes some impressive plays in downfield coverage. Turned in some strong track times as a sophomore, with a personal best of 10.81 seconds in the 100 meters. Looks to have one of the best size and speed combinations among cornerbacks early on in the 2025 cycle. Will need to continue adding good mass and strength in addition to continuing to develop his already solid ball skills.”

He currently has an On3 NIL Valuation of $183K. The On3 NIL Valuation is the industry’s leading index that sets high school and college athletes’ projected annual value (PAV). The NIL valuation does not act as a tracker of the value of NIL deals an athlete has completed to date. It rather signifies an athlete’s value at a certain moment in time.
