Grand Valley State defensive tackle Jay’viar Suggs has trimmed his list of finalists from six to four, with a little bit of a twist. A new team has entered the mix after offering him.

LSU joins Kentucky, Michigan and Wisconsin in the final four for the highly coveted defensive lineman in the portal.

Arkansas, Florida State and USC were cut from Suggs’ list of six finalists.

“My recruitment is officially closed thank you to everyone who reached out…” Suggs wrote on Twitter. “Locked in on these 4 schools… please respect my decision.”

Jay’viar Suggs has already made a number of visits, including to Florida State, Kentucky and Michigan State. Kentucky is the only remaining option after Suggs trimmed his list.

One of the most coveted players remaining in the NCAA transfer portal, Suggs has logged 42 tackles, 14.5 tackles for a loss, 8.0 sacks, two forced fumbles and nine passes defended in the last two seasons.

Suggs had previously raved about a visit to Florida State, but the Seminoles have been eliminated at this point despite the selling point of having two recent NFL draftees off the defensive line: Jared Verse and Braden Fiske.

The talented defensive lineman had also reportedly developed a strong relationship with Seminoles assistant coach Odell Haggins.

“What stood out to me was who he is as a person,” Jay’viar Suggs said. “It’s different when you talk about yourself. But when other people talk about you, you can see what type of person they really are. His message was clear: ‘Come in, play your best and we’re gonna work.’”

Alas, the Seminoles are no longer in the running for Jay’viar Suggs.

Someone will land a quality player out of the NCAA transfer portal, with LSU and the other three programs looking for help along the defensive line.
