Ole Miss women’s golf, not long removed from the first regional title in program history, is set to tee off (3:50-4:34 CT) at the 2024 NCAA Championships in Carlsbad, California.

The No. 14-ranked Rebels are making their fifth all-time (and second consecutive) appearance in the tournament finals.

The event will be held May 17-22 at the La Costa Champions Course and features a 156-person field. Thirty teams will compete for the overall title, while six qualifying women will go for the individual championship.

The Top 15 (and Top 9 individuals) will be named on Sunday and following the last of three 18-hole rounds. Stroke play and an individual champion are crowned a day later. Team quarters and semis are Tuesday, followed by the Championship on Wednesday.

OLE MISS TRACK AND FIELD ATHLETES HEAD TO NCAA EAST REGIONAL

Ole Miss is sending 35 of its track and field athletes — for a total of 41 entries, the second-most the school has ever produced — to the NCAA East Region Preliminary Round Championships.

Kentucky is hosting the Championships May 22-25.

Twenty Rebel men account for 22 entries, while the women are responsible for 15 and 19, respectively. Eight Rebels (six women, two men) in all will attempt at least a double.

McKenzie Long is the world 200-meter leader and was recently named to the watch list for the Bowerman Award, track and field’s version of the Heisman Trophy. Long will go for a triple in the 100-meter, 200-meter and 4×100-meter relay.

The Top 12 finishers from each event and regional will move on to the NCAA Outdoor Championships, hosted this year by Oregon from June 5-8.

OLE MISS’ HENKES NAMED TO COACH OF THE YEAR WATCH LIST

Ole Miss women’s golf head coach Kory Henkes was named this week to the watch list for the 2023-24 Division I Jackie Steinmann WGCA National Coach of the Year.

Henkes won the award in 2020-21 following the program’s first national championship. Henkes is wrapping up her ninth Ole Miss season. Three Rebels had first-place finishes in the regular season.

Ole Miss, as a team, finished in the Top 5 five times.
