Following an official visit this weekend, the Ducks have landed former Colorado cornerback Nikko Reed. It’s the second straight year the Ducks have pulled a starting corner from the Buffaloes.

The visit was reported in our Sunday morning update of the Juice.

The 5-foot-10, 160-pounder was a starting corner last season for Colorado following the departure of Christian Gonzalez. Reed went on to tell On3’s Hayes Fawcett why the Ducks were his choice.

“One was the connections Oregon had as a whole. Coach Meat recruited and coached me my freshman year, sending Gonzo to the league. Along with some coaches on the staff coming from Colorado as well. Some of the coaches are from the same area as me as well, coming from the bay area, so I had a lot of connection to a lot of coaches here as well. Everyone knew somebody or was connected with somebody which makes Oregon feel like a big family. Everyone loves and cares about the development of their kids on the field and as Men. So I felt like this was a great place to come and get developed as well.

Another thing is that these guys are ready to win, and everyone has a background of winning and I’m all about it here and doing it right away. I love the city and the fan base as well. They make it a huge deal up here at Oregon. Everyone’s ready!”

Earlier this offseason, Oregon also landed a transfer from former Alabama defensive back Khyree Jackson.

Reed will arrive at Oregon with a chance at competing for a starting job. In a pass-heavy conference like the Pac-12, multiple defensive backs have great value in a defense. He also has two years of eligibility.

Dan Lanning has now taken 13 transfers in the 2023 cycle with the addition of Reed. On Saturday the Ducks landed a commitment from former wide receiver Gary Bryant Jr.
