Alabama coach Kalen DeBoer spotted at Brewers game vs. Dodgers

July is when college football coaches can get a little bit of downtime. Fall camp is just around the corner and before getting back into football mode, some vacation time fits in. But most cannot stay away from a field, even if it’s not a football one.
Alabama head coach Kalen DeBoer is a great example. On Monday night, he was at American Family Field to take in a matchup between the Milwaukee Brewers and Los Angeles Dodgers. Two of the best in the National League, DeBoer got his baseball fix in.
The FanDuel Sports Network Wisconsin broadcast got a quick glimpse of DeBoer. Max Cohen of WAAY in Huntsville then posted a screenshot of the moment onto X. You can check out the full thing here.
Conversation then continued on social media, where some were confused as to why DeBoer was at the Brewers game. He does not have any specific ties to the city of Milwaukee or the state of Wisconsin. It’s quite far from his home in Tuscaloosa as well.
The same can be said about the road team, the Dodgers. DeBoer did spend time on the West Coast with Fresno State and Washington but nowhere too close to Los Angeles. Without too much information, DeBoer just seems to be taking in a baseball game.
DeBoer’s upbringing has been well documented since taking the Alabama job. He was born in Milbank, South Dakota, before playing both football and baseball at Sioux Falls — a DII school. The Cougars even got his coaching career started as a WR coach in 1997. Eight years later, DeBoer was the program’s head coach.
Still, the journey from Sioux Falls to Milwaukee is a lengthy one. Just under eight hours, totalling around 500 miles to the East.

Either way, some downtime has certainly been earned by DeBoer. Not only is the 2025 season upcoming but Alabama has been red hot on the recruiting trail. Crimson Tide fans will not be complaining and maybe now have some extra interest in a Brewers-Dodgers game.
Paul Finebaum reacts to hot recruiting streak from Kalen DeBoer
To win in college football, teams still need to recruit and recruit well. Even with how recruiting is done changing, that remains true, and in recent weeks the Alabama Crimson Tide have had a surge on the recruiting trail.
This has, ultimately, been a major boost for head coach Kalen DeBoer going into his second season. In the process, DeBoer even earned the praise of Paul Finebaum during an appearance on McElroy and Cubelic in the Morning.
“I think at this moment in time,” Paul Finebaum said. “Kalen DeBoer can do no wrong. He is dialing up everything on the recruiting trail.”
