Sherwood (Ark.) North Little Rock combo guard and Arkansas commit Nick Smith Jr. was in Fayetteville, Ark., on Saturday for the Razorbacks’ football game against Auburn.

While in town for the game, Smith stopped by a fraternity house and started playing full court — albeit on a very short rim.

Smith, the No. 31 prospect in the On3 2022 Top 100, had some ferocious dunks and gave the students and other watching the pickup game a fun show.

Nick Smith elected to stay home and play for Arkansas

Nick Smith committed to Eric Musselman and Arkansas about three weeks ago, choosing the Razorbacks over Alabama, Auburn, and UAPB.

Smith told On3’s Joe Tipton that he had great options but Arkansas made the most sense.

“I’ve been talking to Coach Musselman every day since this recruitment process has started,” Smith said. “Just talking to him about the goals that he has for me and the goals he has for the future of Arkansas. It really caught my eye, and really caught my parent’s eye in terms of getting to the NBA and helping me be ready for the league. The opportunities and plans he has for me were something I couldn’t pass up. Just talking to my parents about it, it made sense for me to stay home and go with Coach Muss.”

Smith is one of five recruits committed to Arkansas’ elite class

Nick Smith is one of five recruits currently committed to the Razorbacks, which have the second-best recruiting class in the nation.

Dallas (Texas) Link Year Prep four-star wing Jordan Walsh is the highest-ranked recruit in the 2022 recruiting cycle at No. 22 in the 2022 On3 100. He is also the most recent commit in the class, announcing his commitment this past week.

Magnolia (Ark.) Magnolia four-star shooting guard Derrian Ford and Mobile (Ala.) McGill-Toolen four-star small forward Barry Dunning also rank in the top 100. Ford is the No. 60 recruit and Dunning is the No. 77 recruit in the country.

Morrilton (Ark.) Morrilton four-star wing Joseph Pinion is the fifth member of the class.
