Texas transfer safety Jerrin Thompson commits to Auburn

Former Texas safety Jerrin Thompson has committed to Auburn, via the NCAA transfer portal.

Thompson spent four seasons with the Longhorns, making 49 appearances and 31 starts. He played in all 14 games in the 2023 campaign, tallying 38 tackles, three interceptions, 10 passes defended and .5 tackles for loss.

Thompson was also fantastic in 2022 when he exploded for a career-high 83 tackles. For his efforts, he was named honorable mention All-Big 12 by the league’s coaches. In his four years at Texas, Thompson amassed 176 total tackles, four tackles for loss, five interceptions, three passes defended and a forced fumble.

Jerrin Thompson played high school football at Tufkin (Texas), where he was a four-star prospect. He was the No. 199 overall recruit in the 2020 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

Thompson is the seventh player Auburn has added through the transfer portal. The Tigers currently have the No. 32 transfer class, according to On3’s Transfer Portal Team Rankings.
