Florida State wide receiver Destyn Hill will miss the 2024 college football season with an injury he sustained during spring training, Seminoles coach Mike Norvell tells Zach Blostein.

His injury was not disclosed during the initial report.

A product of the 2021 recruiting class, Hill missed the first two years of his collegiate career due to personal issues off the field. He would go on to make his collegiate debut in 2023, appearing in four games for FSU where he logged six receptions for 87 yards. Many believed he was poised for a breakout season in 2024.

“One of the things that makes him special is the sense of urgency that he brings, the intensity in how he plays and the way he prepares,” Norvell said during the 2023 ACC spring meetings. “He’s been working for a long time, preparing to get here and be ready to make an impact. I told him to trust the process, come in and work every day to be his best.”

Before Hill found his way back onto the field last year, Mike Norvell previously said that Hill is the type of player that “wants it all,” but needs to trust the process and take his college career one step at a time — especially after being sidelined from football for nearly three years. Following another setback, Hill will have to wait at least another year to showcase his true talents in Tallahassee.

Hill was a four-star recruit when he signed with Florida State out of Edna Karr High School in 2021, per the On3 Industry Rankings, a proprietary algorithm that compiles ratings and rankings from all four primary recruiting media services. He was the No. 112 player in the class and No. 18 overall wide receiver.

During his preps career, Hill caught 54 passes for over 1,000 yards and 14 touchdowns during his breakout 2019 junior season. In 2020, he followed that up with 38 catches — 15 of which went into the end zone.

The Florida State Seminoles will begin their 2024 college football season on the road against ACC foe Georgia Tech during a special Week 0 matchup on Aug. 24. FSU will not see another conference opponent until they travel to Dallas to take on ACC newcomer SMU on Sept. 28 before taking on Clemson in a premier matchup the following week to begin September. They finish the 2024 season at home against in-state rival Florida on Nov. 30.
