The regular season is starting to wind down. However, there are still plenty of key series left to be played. That includes this weekend, when head coach Mark Wasikowski will lead the Oregon Ducks on the road against the Washington Huskies.

Ahead of that series, Wasikowski previewed Washington and shared his impressions of the Huskies this season.

“Playing their baseball, probably, of the year,” Mark Wasikowski said. “They play really good at home. They’ve been winning two out of three at home each weekend that they’ve been doing that now for a little while. At the beginning of the year [they weren’t] but now lately they have been.”

Washington is 18-23-1 overall this season after a slow start. That has been a disappointment after going 35-20 last season and making it to the NCAA Regionals. One of the problems was roster turnover for the Huskies. Another has been just struggling to find consistency. Still, Washington has won nine out of thirteen games in Seattle.

For Mark Wasikowski, in particular, he has concerns about Washington’s offense. This comes after the Huskies scored a total of 39 runs in three games during their last Pac-12 series. That came against Arizona State, but Washington still only won one game after giving up 41 runs themselves.

“They scored a ton of runs last weekend at Arizona State, and I know the conditions were ripe for that but still they’re playing really good baseball. They’ve got power in their lineup still and they’ve still got about five carryovers from last year that are really good hitters.”

Mark Wasikowski’s Oregon Ducks are coming into this series off a series win against the Utah Utes. It was the second straight series win for Oregon.

Oregon is currently fourth in the Pac-12 standings, with a record of 14-10 in conference play. Washington, meanwhile, has a 9-15 record in conference play and is in ninth place. In a recent Field of 64 projection, On3’s Jonathan Wagner has the Ducks making it to the postseason this year. For now, Oregon is fairly comfortably, making it as a third-seed in their potential Regional. That would be the Durham Regional, with Duke headlining the four teams going there. For its part, Washington is on the outside looking in.

The season is coming to an end relatively soon too. Including the Washington series, Oregon only has six games left this regular season. After that, the Ducks will have the Pac-12 Tournament to look forward to.
