Santa Ana (Calif.) Mater Dei four-star linebacker Nasir Wyatt has committed to Oregon.

He had a long list of offers, but Wyatts chose the Ducks over Tennessee and Texas.

“Oregon has shown me everything I needed to see,” Wyatt told On3. “I have had them on top of my list for a while, but I was young, I was still exploring my options, but Oregon is where I want to be.

“The program is stable, it is fresh, it is building, it is growing and I feel the vibe there. It is the right people for me to be around and the right environment for be in. I am ready to be a part of that Oregon program.”

The No. 102 overall prospect and No. 12 LB in the On3 Industry Ranking almost committed in January to the Ducks. He remained in contact with numerous schools and took a few visits over the last couple of months. Oregon just kept sticking out.

“I followed my heart. I felt wanted. The coaches at Oregon are excited to have me. It was never about money or NIL for me, but it was about my heart. Oregon has what I want.”

Wyatt is a believer in Dan Lanning and Tosh Lupoi

Dan Lanning being the head coach played a huge role. Wyatt heard his name when Nick Saban retired from Alabama. Lanning took his name off the replacement list quickly. He wants to be in Eugene.

“Coach Lanning could have gone to Alabama, but he is dedicated to the Oregon program. Coach Lanning wants to be there and the program is excelling so much under him. He is a real person with real values and the team morale is real under Coach Lanning. Oregon is doing nothing but climbing to the top and I want to be a part of it.”

Tosh Lupoi was Wyatt’s lead recruiter. The relationship is strong. Wyatt felt the love from Lupoi and he is excited about learning from him.

“Tosh is ready to coach me up. He has shown me the blueprint and he can get me to my best. The EDGE room is stacked and I am ready to go in, work, learn from Coach Tosh and Coach Lanning and start contributing as early as I can. I love Coach Tosh’s plan for me.”
