Game 2 of Bedlam has been delayed. Shortly after first pitch between Oklahoma and Oklahoma State softball, the game was delayed due to lightning in the area.

The game is scoreless in the top of the first. Jilyen Poullard of Oklahoma State is up to bat with a 2-2 count. Nicole May is on the mound for the Sooners.

This is a big game for both Oklahoma and Oklahoma State as they battle for Big 12 positioning and postseason seeding.

Oklahoma enters the matchup with a 45-5 (21-4) record, while the Cowgirls are 43-8 (20-5).

The two teams met in Game 1 of the Bedlam series on Friday, with Oklahoma State coming out on top.

The Cowboys earned a 6-3 victory as Jilyen Poullard, Karli Godwin and Micaela Wark all homered for the Cowgirls.

Kelly Maxwell suffered the loss for the Sooners, allowing 3 earned runs in 4 innings of work. For OSU, Lexi Kilfoyl earned the win to improve to 20-3 on the year.

The weather situation is dicey for the rest of the weekend, unfortunately.

The good news is that there appears to be a break in bad weather in Norman later this afternoon, but it is supposed to rain most of tomorrow morning and into tomorrow afternoon, with a chance of thunderstorms.

The Sooners have established themselves as one of the best softball programs in the country under head coach Patty Gasso. OU has won three consecutive national titles and is in the mix again in 2024.

As for Oklahoma State, the Cowgirls have reached the Women’s College World Series each of the past three years. They could be back there this season as OSU has proven that it is one of the best teams in the nation.

Beating the Sooners in Game 1 of Bedlam only further shows what the Cowgirls are capable of.

OSU’s win over OU was its first in Norman since 1997. It was also the fifth victory over a top-10 opponent this season.

While the Cowgirls ended up coming out on top, Oklahoma led 2-0 to start the game, before OSU battled back. This is the final series of the regular season for both OU and OSU. The Big 12 Championship game is set to begin next Wednesday in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

In addition to the two programs taking part in Bedlam, the University of Texas is also having an excellent season. The Longhorns are tied atop the Big 12 standings with a 43-6 (21-4) record.
