The 2024 season was another exciting one for Buford (Ga.) High, one of the top high school football programs in Georgia. The Wolves rattled off 12 wins in a row and reached the 6A state semifinals.

Buford has won 13 state titles since 2000 and has been in the mix for many more. It finished as the No. 24 team nationally in 2024, per the On3 Composite Rankings. It will once again be a favorite to earn some more hardware in 2025.

The great Bryant Appling is now entering his 22nd season as head coach of the Wolves. Behind a top-notch roster, Appling and his staff will take on a tough Peach State slate in the coming months.

Milton finished as the top-ranked team in the state last season and handed Buford an opening-week defeat, winning a 13-10 slog. The Eagles will look to compete at the top of the pack once again and will head to Buford this time to begin the 2025 campaign on Aug. 15.

The first of four road games for Buford will come the following week at Benedictine in Savannah. Buford won a tight 29-28 game against the Cadets at home last year.

After an early bye, the Wolves begin a three-game stretch of home bouts against Roswell, Douglas County and Discovery. Douglas County finished as the No. 7 team in the state last season.

A three-game road stretch then follows. October will see the Wolves head to Collins Hill, Dacula and Central Gwinnett. Home games against Mountain View and Mill Creek will round out the regular season.

Buford has to replace a slew of talent this season, as 11 Wolves signed with Division I programs back in the winter. The 2025 roster does still feature some impressive names, including senior quarterback and Nebraska commit Dayton Raiola, the younger brother of former Buford standout and current Nebraska QB Dylan Raiola. Four-star EDGE Bryce Perry-Wright, four-star safeties Tyriq Green and Nascar McCoy, as well as Georgia four-star offensive lineman commit Graham Houston are other names to know this fall.
