Santa Ana (Calif.) Mater Dei running back Jordon Davison is one of the most coveted prospects in the 2025 class. The No. 91 prospect in the On3 Industry Ranking has over 50 offers and has been pursued by many of the best in the country for the last 18 months.

He almost cut his list to 10 schools before his junior season. He held off. More visits were taken, relationships got stronger and after multiple coaching changes at schools on Davison’s list, he has named his top four schools.

Alabama, Michigan, Ohio State and Oregon are my top schools,” Davison told On3. “Those schools made my list because of the development of players at my position, how the coaches coach running backs and where the programs are going right now.

“I am looking for the best opportunity. Relationships are essential, how running backs are used in the offense and where I have a chance to win will be things I look for in the future.”

The 5-foot-11, 210-pound four-star will now move forward with official visits in June with the plan to commit before his senior season.

“My goal is commit later this summer, but there is no guarantee,” Davison added. “My focus will be on these four schools and I am in a good place.

“It will come down to opportunity and where I feel is the best place I can thrive at. I want to be around good people, have support beyond football and be at the right place to succeed.”

Alabama is the lone SEC schools on Davison’s list

Davison is coming off a spring visit to Alabama. He has taken multiple trips to Tuscaloosa, but it was his first time on campus since Kalen DeBoer took over as head coach.

“The main thing is Coach G (Robert Gillespie),” Davison said. “He is genuine, we have a great connection and I love his past with developing backs. He feels I am the best back in the country and that means a lot too. Then Alabama has that running back history and I have relationships with Coach DeBoer, Coach Nick Sheridan and Courtney Morgan.”

Michigan, Ohio State and Oregon are Big Ten programs Davison likes

Michigan may surprise some being on this list. But if you follow Davison’s recruitment and college football closely, you know why the Wolverines are in this race. It is new running backs coach Tony Alford. He left Ohio State for Michigan.

“Coach Alford and I have a special relationship,” Davison said. “From day one when I worked out with him at camp, we have had that connection. Since he got to Michigan, we have remained in contact. He told me he was leaving Ohio State two days before it came out, so we have that type of relationship. With him at Michigan, that impacts my interest in them. I have been up there, and … now have to get up there, see how I feel and go from there.”

Ohio State and Oregon have had coaching changes at the running back position, but the Buckeyes and Ducks have been with Davison from the beginning.

“I have a great relationship with Coach Carlos Locklyn. It goes back to Oregon and when they started recruiting me. I think Coach Ryan Day prioritized choosing a coach that has a good relationship with me and that meant a lot. Coach Day has been very consistent with me and I like the direction the program is headed and how this recruiting class is going.

“Oregon is a west coast school that I have been to a lot. I know players up there and Coach Dan Lanning and Coach Will Stein are great guys that I have good relationships with. Those guys keep me around the program. I spent more time with Coach Ra’Shaad Samples on my last visit and we had some good talks and are still getting to know each other.”
