One of the top players in the college football transfer portal is still looking for a home for the 2024 season. Former Arkansas Razorbacks offensive tackle Andrew Chamblee has yet to commit to a program as we head into the summer offseason portion of the college football schedule. But that could all change soon as the offensive tackle is scheduled to meet with one of the top programs in Texas.

On3’s Pete Nakos revealed on Wednesday that Chamblee will visit TCU on May 8th and 9th. According to On3’s transfer portal rakings, the former Arkansas offensive lineman is ranked as one of the top players currently in the transfer portal.

Chamblee spent the past two seasons with the Razorbacks. He redshirted in his first year before his redshirt freshman season this past year. In 2023, he appeared in every game for the ‘Hogs, including eight starts. For his efforts, he earned a spot on the All-SEC Freshman Team.

However, in early April, it was shared that Chamblee was no longer part of Arkansas’ program. The original report suggested that he had “lost the love for the game” but would not be transferring as he planned to continue his life as a student in Fayetteville.

If TCU believes that Chamblee is a perfect match for their future offensive tackle plans, they will likely need to make sure he does not leave their campus without committing. Because just down the road, one of the Horned Frog’s biggest rivals, the SMU Mustangs, has already offered the former Razorback to join their program. Now, TCU will play SMU in 2024. The two teams will square off on Sept. 21, with the kickoff still to be determined. And the Horned Frogs would much rather one-up their regional rivals, getting Chamblee to commit to them rather than see him suit up and play for the Mustangs in late September.

James Brockermeyer commits to TCU

Former Alabama Crimson Tide interior offensive lineman James Brockermeyer has a new home for the 2024 college football season. On Tuesday, Brockermeyer announced his commitment to play for the TCU Horned Frogs next season.

The news of the former Crimson Tide center’s commitment should not come as too much of a surprise to those closely following the story. Less than 72 hours ago, it was reported that Brockermeyer was expected to commit to TCU. Now, things can change dramatically within a 72-hour window, especially when it comes to the NCAA transfer portal. But fortunately for TCU and their head coach Sonny Dykes, they have won the lottery when it comes to acquiring the services of this former high-end recruit from the 2021 recruiting class.
