Orlando First Academy three-star wide receiver Demetrice McCray has committed to Pitt, he announced on Monday.

He chose the Panthers over offers from the likes of North Carolina, Ole Miss, Mississippi State, Illinois, Kansas State, West Virginia and others.

McCray is the No. 143 wide receiver and No. 109 player in Florida in the 2026 cycle, according to the On300. He is currently unranked in the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

The 6-foot pass-catcher picked up an offer from head coach Pat Narduzzi and the Pitt staff at the end of January. He’s locked in a June official visit, but is now in the fold in early May. McCray is commit No. 5 for the Panthers this cycle.

In eight games as a junior, McCray logged 36 catches for 894 yards and a touchdown. He now adds to a Pitt class that ranks No. 56 in the nation, according to the On3 Industry Team Recruiting Rankings.

The Panthers now have a pair of wide receivers out of Florida in their 2026 class. McCray joins Sarasota (Fla.) Booker three-star WR Dylan Wester, the highest-ranked commit in the mix to date. Wester pledged at the end of March.

In January, Southlake (Texas) Carroll three-star quarterback Angelo Renda committed to Pitt over in-state SMU and others. He’s now the No. 62 signal-caller in the cycle and plays for one of the top high school football programs in Texas.

The class also features a pair of safeties in Westerville (Ohio) three-star Isaac Patterson and Detroit Cass Tech three-star Marcus Jennings. The 6-foot-2, 185-pound Jennings is a top-25 player in Michigan this cycle.

To date, the class also ranks No. 14 in the ACC, checking in ahead of just NC State, Virginia Tech, Virginia and Wake Forest. Last cycle, Pitt inked the nation’s No. 54 class.

While the 2025 class didn’t feature a blue-chip signee, Pitt did land some of its top targets, including Oregon (Ohio) Clay three-star QB Mason Heintschel, the No. 44 QB in the cycle. Ocoee (Fla.) three-star cornerback Joshua Guerrier was the top-ranked signee, ranking No. 502 overall and No. 46 at the corner position.

“Heintschel led his Oregon (Ohio) Clay program to it’s first conference title in four decades. He is a fun, creative player that does a lot of things off-script,” On3’s Steve Wiltfong wrote of the signal-caller.
