Bralen Trice had his NFL dreams come true in the 2024 NFL Draft on Friday night. The gifted EDGE rusher from Washington was selected by the Atlanta Falcons with the No. 74 overall selection in the third round. Shortly after he was picked, his rookie contract details were revealed on the Spotrac website.

His contract is for four years, $5.914 million. The deal includes a signing bonus of $1,121,379.

Trice did not play during his first two seasons in Seattle before playing 12 games in a reserve role in 2021. One of his highlights from that year included returning a fumble 72 yards for a touchdown against Arkansas State, and he started the final two games.

Trice became a full-time starter over the next two seasons and was named a team captain in 2023. He led the team in sacks both seasons, combining for 16 total to go along with 87 tackles (21.5 for loss) and a forced fumble.

The 6-foot-4, 274-pound edge rusher saw his career culminate with his best performance yet as he earned first team All-Pac-12 and third team All-American honors from the Associated Press. He totaled a career-high 49 tackles (11.5 for loss) to go with seven sacks in helping lead Washington to an appearance in the national title game.

Trice was also named first team All-Pac-12 as a junior in 2022.

As a recruit, Trice was a three-star prospect coming out of Sandra Day O’Connor High School in Glendale, Arizona. He ranked as the No. 489 overall player and No. 58 linebacker in the 2019 cycle according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

What NFL Draft analyst are saying about Bralen Trice

NFL.com’s Lance Zierlein offered some analysis on Trice’s game in his recent scout of the edge rusher’s draft profile. He noted that while he isn’t the most gifted prospect in the class athletically, he makes up for it with his effort.

That in mind, he should be able to carve out a role for himself as a reliable backup.

“Team captain with good size who is well-liked by his teammates and coaching staff,” Zierlein wrote. “Trice isn’t going to be the most skilled edge defender, but he parlays urgency and effort into impressive production. He carries a thick frame but lacks juice as an edge rusher and fails to stack and control tackles as a run defender.

“He’s a better fit in gaming fronts that allow him to play on the move, but he might lack the athleticism and explosiveness needed to carry his production to the next level. Trice’s try-hard demeanor and play strength give him a chance to become a decent backup end in a 4-3 defense.”
