RFK Racing is raising some questions with a new photo after Chris Buescher lost in the closest NASCAR finish in the history of the Cup Series. The start-finish line appeared that it was painted unevenly after the race.

Kyle Larson beat Chris Buescher by a matter of inches. 0.001 seconds was the difference between the two drivers. When you lose a race by that much, it is devastating. The whole RFK organization is going to feel the sting of this one for a bit.

RFK Racing posted a photo of the start-finish line showing that the paint job was uneven. Implying maybe a little wrongdoing going on at Kansas?

Look, I’m not going to bash a social admin for making a post that is essentially “We should have won.” That’s kind of their job in these situations. But this is a little bit misleading and misguided.

NASCAR does not use the painted lines to make these decisions. Everything is digitally timed and tracked and uses GPS. The start-finish line we physically see is not the same one that is recorded by the computers, which is a perfectly straight line.

Chris Buescher put up a great effort. He carried the Ford camp all night. It was a great drive and one he should be proud of. But it’s also one that got away from him. By the smallest of margins imaginable.

Between the Atlanta finish and this one, the NASCAR season has produced two of the most incredible moments of all time.

Chris Buescher left speechless after loss

The worst position to finish in motorsports – P2. Especially when it was as close as this finish. Kansas provided us with a ton of amazing racing. All three stages were filled with action. The rain delay actually helped make this a better race.

The track underwent a ton of change. Cloudy, overcast to sunshine for a brief period and then back to a cool track as night time set in. For Chris Buescher, it was heartbreaking.

“I don’t know what to say right now,” Buescher said on the FOX broadcast. He looked dejected. “I haven’t seen the replay other than just a picture. I sure can’t see it in that picture. That just sucks to be that close.”

Chris Buescher had his best chance at a win this season and it slipped through his fingers. RFK Racing thought they would carry their positive momentum from last season into 2024. So far, that has yet to happen. Buescher and this 17 team are moving in the right direction but this one wasn’t meant to be.
