National Signing Day Capsule: Five-Star Plus+ WR Ryan Williams
One of the greatest high school football players in the state of Alabama’s history has officially put pen to paper.
On Wednesday, Saraland (Ala.) High School wideout Ryan Williams signed his National Letter of Intent to play for the Crimson Tide at the next level. His signing comes two weeks after Williams officially rejoined Bama’s 2024 class. Williams was previously slated to sign on Feb. 9 — his birthday — but moved it up to National Signing Day following his commitment.
Williams was committed to Alabama from Oct. 8, 2022, until Jan. 10, 2024, which was the day of Nick Saban‘s retirement. The Five-Star Plus+ recruit would go on to take an official visit to Texas A&M that following weekend before returning to Tuscaloosa twice the next week.
It didn’t take long for Williams to recommit to Alabama as he was back in the fold on Jan. 24. The Auburn legacy also canceled previously scheduled official visits with the Tigers and the Texas Longhorns.
Williams, who reclassified from the 2025 class to the 2024 class in December, turns 17 years old this week.
Down below is some more information about Williams, who recently won Mr. Football in the state of Alabama for the second consecutive year.

What to know about Alabama signee Ryan Williams
Commitment Date: Jan. 24, 2024
Enrollment Status: Summer
On3 Industry Rankings: No. 5 overall/No. 3 wide receiver/No. 2 in Alabama
Why he chose Alabama: “Alabama is and always has been where my heart was since I first began being recruited by them. I love the Tide and the Tide loves me. With the addition of Coach [Kalen] DeBoer’s offense and the relationship I built with him and the rest of the staff in such a short amount of time, I am 1,000 percent confident and committed…. ROLL TIDE.”
Coach’s Take: “Truthfully, I think Ryan fits the exact caliber of the player that Washington’s staff needs in their offense,” Williams’ position coach, Daniel Tigg Taylor, previously told BamaOnLine. “I think they threw for 5,000 yards last year… I think that was an eye-opener for Ryan. But Ryan’s skill set, he’s a guy who’s going to demand the ball and he wants the ball. For us here at Saraland, every eight plays, he scored a touchdown throughout his whole career.
“He’s the type of guy where if you put the ball in his hands, he can make something special happen,” Taylor continued. “We see that a lot. Throw him the hitch, he’ll make someone miss, and he’ll take it for 60. Him being so dynamic and so versatile after he gets the ball in his hands makes him the player that he is.”
