Gators Online Show: Scrimmage No. 2 preview, latest from practice
Welcome to the Gators Online Show! For episode 86, co-hosts Zach Abolverdi and Nick de la Torre preview the second scrimmage this spring and share their takeaways from the first scrimmage.
We open the show with a recap of what we learned last Saturday’s scrimmage in The Swamp, including the standouts, top plays, the strengths of the team and areas of concern moving forward.
We also share our thoughts on the gameday roles for UF’s new assistant coaches and the promotion of co-offensive coordinator Russ Callaway, who has taken on more responsibilities.
We then preview the Gators’ second spring scrimmage and some of the storylines we’re monitoring, including the performance of true freshman quarterback DJ Lagway and other players to watch.
Saturday will mark Florida’s final scrimmage before the Orange & Blue Game. The football team will practice two more times next week before the spring game on April 13 at 1 p.m.
We wrap up the show by discussing the latest on Florida baseball. UF beat Florida A&M on Tuesday won its first midweek since February. Now the team has a chance go undefeated for the week with a weekend series at Missouri.
The Tigers are the only SEC team with a losing record (12-18) and have yet to win a conference series (1-8), including five straight losses to end March.
The Gators (17-11, 6-3) are back in action on Friday against Mizzou and will look to win their seven straight weekend series and first sweep in SEC play.
