Georgia was one of the first programs to offer Roswell (Ga.) Walton High School four-star offensive lineman Daniel Calhoun. Georgia offered alongside Alabama during Calhoun’s eighth-grade year.

Calhoun is one of the first to officially sign his national letter of intent as the Early Signing Period opens on Wednesday.

Calhoun committed to the Bulldogs back on July 5 over Alabama, Auburn, Texas and others. The No. 128 overall prospect in the On3 Industry Rankings is one of six offensive linemen committed to the Bulldogs in the class of 2024.

Calhoun remembered his offer even on his commitment day.

Daniel Calhoun’s memorable quotes

“It’s crazy because I was in eighth grade just working out at home and my coach called me to tell me that Georgia had offered,” Calhoun told On3’s Chad Simmons back on July 5. “Georgia’s been the top school for awhile. It’s right down the road and they always produce great offensive linemen.”

The Bulldogs’ development was a major piece of the puzzle for Calhoun.

“Coach Searles always produces really good offensive linemen and sends linemen to the league every year,” Calhoun said to Simmons. “Coach Smart is doing his job. You see the games but it all starts in practice and their practices are intense. They run through everything. Even the walkthroughs aren’t really walkthroughs.”

Calhoun is already on campus taking part in bowl practices in Athens as an early enrollee.

Georgia’s 2024 class ranks No. 1 in the nation per the On3 Industry Team Recruiting Rankings.
