Kansas State is still putting the final touches on the 2024-25 football roster. Tyler Junior College linebacker Kaden McMahan has announced his commitment to K-State and will be another piece for head coach Chris Klieman, defensive coordinator Joe Klanderman and the Wildcats.

The decision for McMahan comes on the heels of an official visit to Kansas State over the weekend. It was not the only stop the linebacker made this week, either. He also visited Iowa State and did so before his time in Manhattan.

McMahan’s recruitment has been a bit of a journey. He was originally committed to TCU back in November. However, after the Horned Frogs made a change at defensive coordinator, McMahan backed out of his commitment to the Horned Frogs.

The Texas native then went back to Tyler Junior College over the spring playing a new position at linebacker after originally being a safety. After seeing his tape from the Spring, more Power Four teams became involved.

The Cyclones were the first to pull the trigger, followed by K-State. Houston also offered the three-star junior college standout.

Kansas State is no stranger to adding defenders from Tyler. Gavin Forsha, Kobe Savage, Justice James and Daniel Cobbs have all been added to the Wildcats’ roster and were former Apaches. In the case of James, Savage and Cobbs, they were also like McMahan and added after the Spring.

This past fall, McMahon tallied 29 tackles, one tackle for a loss and recorded a forced fumble in seven games.

Overall, the linebacker is the fourth addition K-State has made for the 2024 roster. McMahan joins Colorado transfer running back Dylan Edwards, New Mexico transfer linebacker Alec Marenco and Uconn transfer quarterback Ta’Quan Roberson.

According the On3 Industry Ranking (a combination of all four recruiting services), McMahan is ranked the No. 82 junior college prospect in the country and No. 8 junior college linebacker in the nation. He is a full qualifier, so he will be on the Kansas State campus in June.

McMahan has three years of eligibility remaining and also has a redshirt available.
