Kentucky Gets Key Piece In Oklahoma State Transfer Brandon Garrison

The college basketball transfer portal officially closed on May 1, but some names have leaked out over the last couple of days. Players just had to start the process of becoming a free agent by the deadline. The latest player to become available has a direct connection with the Kentucky men’s basketball staff.

Baylor big Caleb Lohner entered the transfer portal on Friday. The 6-foot-8 sophomore spent the last two seasons at Baylor when Alvin Brooks III was on Scott Drew’s staff. Before that, Lohner got his college start at BYU playing for Mark Pope.

Caleb Lohner will be a super senior in 2024-25 with one season of eligibility remaining. The frontcourt player averaged 2.4 points and 1.7 rebounds in a career-low 9.2 minutes per game. Lohner had his best two seasons playing for Pope at BYU averaging 7.0 points and 6-plus rebounds per game.

The transfer shot over 60 percent from two-point range each of his last two seasons in the Big 12. Caleb Lohner has played in 131 games with 44 starting assignments. All those starts occurred when Lohner played for Pope in the West Coast Conference.

Kentucky currently has nine scholarship players on the roster. Kerr Kriisa (West Virginia), Otega Oweh (Oklahoma), and Brandon Garrison (Oklahoma State) all made the move from the Big 12 to join the Wildcats. Will Caleb Lohner follow them?
