Shamar Porter was a four-star recruit out of Nashville (Tenn.) Ensworth in the class of 2023 who signed with Kentucky. The blue-chip recruit ended up becoming Kentucky’s highest-ranked recruit in that recruiting cycle, but the redshirt freshman decided to leave the program after just one season.

After entering the transfer portal in December, Shamar Porter withdrew his name and returned for the spring. The 6-foot-2 receiver decided to become a free agent again in April. Porter found his new college football home in just two weeks.

The SEC transfer committed to UConn on Sunday night.

Shamar Porter will play for head coach Jim Mora in Hartford next season. UConn is 9-16 under the former Atlanta Falcons and UCLA head coach taking a step back to 3-9 in 2023 after making a bowl game in 2022 under Mora. Porter will have four years of eligibility remaining after taking a redshirt season at Kentucky.

The Wildcats currently have eight scholarship wideouts on the 2024 roster.
