WHAT’S UP TODAY

First up this morning in your Miami Hurricanes news?

We have a closer look at Miami’s use of the transfer portal – in Mario Cristobal’s first full transfer portal cycle he gobbled up 11 players, then last year took 15 more. The double-digit trend continued this year, with the team grabbing eight transfers in the first window and then taking five more so far in the recent second portal window. Will that continue into the future? We share our take.

Also don’t miss our Inside The Lines feature with Miami Central four-star safety Amari Wallace.

In recruiting our coverage starts with an update on coveted 5-star WR Jaime Ffrench, who has a Miami OV set for June. Where do things stand there?

Alpharetta (Ga.) Milton 2025 Miami four-star quarterback commit Luke Nickel didn’t single-handedly bring the house down at the Atlanta Elite11 regional last week, but after reviewing the top-150 Hurricane pledge’s film, On3’s Director of Scouting Charles Power is continuing to like what he sees from Miami’s quarterback commit. Get his thoughts.

Another update: Back on March 23, Denton (Texas) Guyer defensive lineman Xavier Ukponu named his top nine schools, and the Miami Hurricanes were not on that list. But now that he got a visit from Jason Taylor at his school things could change. Read about that.

Plus 2026 top-50 running back Tradarian Ball landed an offer from Miami last week. So where does that put UM with him? Check out what he’s saying.

And, as always, stay tuned today for any news that may come up.

MESSAGE BOARD POST OF THE DAY

Filling needs in the portal … Posted by Kimzkr

As for filling needs , we did great on paper :

Carpenter – Starting Center
Barrow, Cook, Marley — possibly 2 starters and depth
Powell- starting safety
WARD – QB1
Martinez – starting RB
Brown – potential starting WR
Alston – depth at DE

by my count, we got approx. 7 new starters

how they turn out is anyone’s guess , but 7 starters is essentially 1/3 of all starters on O and D , so in guess that’s a good thing

MIAMI HURRICANES QUOTE OF THE DAY

“I think for starters, he gets the ball up and out quickly. He holds the ball high and has a natural, mechanically sound release that he’s able to replicate over and over. I thought he was at his best when he was working from a stationary platform, when he was throwing off of timed drops. I thought he delivered some really nice passes. He’s got good arm strength, can throw the balls at all levels.”
