Lb Commit Compared To Rocky Balboa Zach Ludwig Michigan Football Recruiting Wolverines

Three-star Michigan linebacker commit Zach Ludwig recorded four total tackles, while starting at quarterback and long snapper for South Park (Pa.) High on Friday. Ludwig was honored on Senior Night as he played three full quarters in the loss. The Eagles were already playoff eligible heading into the game.

The Wolverine’s Zach Libby was onsite and captured exclusive clips from the contest. Watch highlights of Ludwig in the video above.

Ludwig Recruitment

Ludwig committed to Michigan this past November after taking a visit and watching preparations for the Ohio State game. Head coach Jim Harbaugh personally offered and accepted Ludwig’s pledge.

“It meant a lot to me,” Ludwig previously The Wolverine. “I know for him to take a chance on me, it’s big. I know just one year of film isn’t a lot, but him seeing me develop over time and taking that chance is really big.”

Ludwig was the first true linebacker commit for the Wolverines this cycle. He’s since made returns to Ann Arbor for the April spring game and in late July for the BBQ at The Big House.

“It’s just the school in general,” Ludwig said. “The coaches and staff are all like family. Whenever I’m up there, all of the players are very welcoming. It’s like a brotherhood up there. The overall systems are also just amazing. It’s crazy to me that I just had my last game on (South Park’s) home field and I’ll be in college next year.”

The nephew of Michigan strength and conditioning coach Ben Herbert, Ludwig will enroll in June.

“When I’m in there, my goal is to train as hard as I can,” Ludwig said. “(Herbert) knows what I’m capable of and I know what I’m capable of when I’m with him. He knows what I can do because I’ve worked with him before. When I get there, he’s going to kick my ass as much as he can. It’s amazing to have him because he’s the best strength coach in the world.”

At 6-foot-2, 215 pounds, Ludwig is ranked as the No. 93 overall linebacker in the country and No. 32 player in Pennsylvania, according to On3.

Michigan’s 2024 recruiting class is No. 14 overall in the On3 Industry National team Recruiting Rankings. It features four commits listed in the Top 100 – Charlotte (N.C.) Providence Day quarterback Jadyn Davis, Cincinnati (Ohio) Archbishop Moeller running back Jordan Marshall, Rochester (Mich.) Adams tight end Brady Prieskorn, Kansas City (Mo.) Rockhurst offensive tackle Andrew Sprague.
