Report: Buckeyes RB Quinshon Judkins dealing with hand injury, not expected to miss time
COLUMBUS — Ohio State is halfway through the season, and the injury bug appears to be hitting the Buckeyes following their loss to Oregon last weekend.
According to On3 national college football reporter Pete Nakos, Buckeyes tailback Quinshon Judkins is dealing with a hand injury, which forced him to undergo a procedure during the idle week.
Ohio State running back Quinshon Judkins underwent a hand procedure this week, multiple sources tell On3. The former Ole Miss transfer is not expected to miss any playing time with the Buckeyes on their bye week.

The report from Nakos lines up with what Lettermen Row had indicated inside the Lettermen Lounge message board last week; Judkins was dealing with the hand issue prior to the road trip to Oregon last weekend. He had just 23 yards on 11 carries and a touchdown, but he also had a critical fumble for the Buckeyes that led to a Ducks touchdown.
The hand issue could be what led to the fumble.
The good news: Lettermen Row sources indicated that Judkins was at least a limited participant in Buckeyes practice late this week. He was wearing a brace, but he was doing drills with the team, a good sign that Nakos’ report that Judkins isn’t expected to miss time is in fact accurate, or that any time missed would be minimal in a worst case scenario.
Judkins has been one of the best tailbacks in the country this season, carrying the ball 71 times for 491 yards and six touchdown runs. The Ole Miss transfer has teamed up with Buckeyes fourth-year back TreVeyon Henderson as the top running back duos in college football this season.
Now adversity has reportedly hit for Judkins and the Ohio State backfield. Good thing he isn’t expected to miss time because of it.

Josh Simmons, Will Kacmarek will be out a while
Ohio State is expecting to be without two key players in its offense for a while. After Day said on Saturday night right after the game that star left tackle Josh Simmons would likely be out for the rest of the season, he didn’t confirm that Thursday.
But he did say that Simmons and first-team tight end Will Kacmarek will not be healthy for a while.
“That’s why you have to build depth,” Day said. “You knew this was going to happen midway through the season. So couple guys, we’ll get back for sure, other guys like Josh and Will, it’ll be a while.”
Both Simmons and Kacmarek are key pieces of the running game that has been one of the best in the country. Kacmarek has been the Buckeyes’ best run-blocker at tight end, while Simmons has steadily risen up NFL Draft boards all season.
Now they’ll both be on the shelf — with no defined timetable for a return.
