Ole Miss baseball is coming off its third SEC series win of the season and next hosts Murray State Wednesday at 5 p.m. CT.

The game is a makeup following a rainout earlier in the year. The Rebels (25-22, 9-15 SEC) took two of three at Auburn over the weekend. They last won a road SEC series at LSU in May of 2022. Murray State is 30-18 (11-10 MVC) overall.

Andrew Fischer hit a home run, scored at least one run and drove in three or more in every game on The Plains. Fischer — a sophomore in his first Ole Miss season following a transfer from Duke — drove in nearly half of the Rebels’ runs (11 of 25). His 11 RBI were the most in the SEC, while his 18 total bases were the second-most.

Fischer is hitting .360 (17-46) with 18 RBI, 11 runs scored and five home runs over his last 12 games. Arizona State transfer infielder Luke Hill has a .405 (17-42) mark with nine runs and five walks over his last 11. Jackson Ross, a transfer from FAU, leads the SEC (and ranks fifth in the NCAA) in walks (49).

ETHAN LEGE NAMED 2024 FERRISS TROPHY FINALIST

Ole Miss leading slugger Ethan Lege, on Tuesday, was named one of five finalists for the 2024 Ferriss Trophy, which is handed out each year to the most outstanding college baseball player in Mississippi.

Lege is joined by Brett Sanchez (Belhaven), Dakota Jordan (Mississippi State), Dalton McIntyre (Southern Miss) and RJ Stinson (William Carey). Ole Miss is looking to have back-to-back Ferriss Trophy winners for the first time since 2004-05. Kemp Alderman won last year.

Lege has a team-leading .323 average in 43 games. He’s second in slugging percentage (.645), on-base percentage (.424), hits (50), home runs (13) and total bases (100).

OLE MISS WOMEN’S GOLF CLIMBS TO SECOND IN CHASE FOR NCAA CHAMPIONSHIP BID

Ole Miss women’s golf has moved into a tie for second place following the second round at the NCAA Bermuda Run Regional.

The Rebels have a two-day score of 564 (-12), included a carded 281 (-7) on Tuesday, the lowest team score in an NCAA event in program history.

Ole Miss will enter the third and final round in the Top 5 and 11 strokes ahead of sixth-place North Texas. The Rebels are six strokes off host Wake Forest. The final round of stroke play is Wednesday. Only the Top 5 teams and top individual from a non-advancing team will clinch a spot to advance to Carlsbad, California later this month.

The Rebels, as a team, have made the second most birdies in the field (34). They’re second in par-4 scoring.
