Salaries for newest Gamecocks NFL Draft picks

Four South Carolina Gamecocks football players were selected in the 2024 NFL Draft, which took place over the weekend. Here is a look at the projections for what each new pro will be compensated at he highest level.

Wide receiver Xavier Legette, Carolina Panthers

The Panthers traded up a spot to nab Legette in the first round on Friday.

He will be rewarded with a handsome financial deal. Spotrac projects that Legette will get a four year deal worth $12.3 million, plus a $5.8 million signing bonus. The deal will also be guaranteed. As a first round pick, the Panthers also have the option to bring Legette back on a fifth year of the deal.

Legette skyrocketed up draft boards after a stellar final season at South Carolina in which he caught 71 passes for 1,255 yards and 7 touchdowns. His NFL Combine performance was also strong, running a 4.39 second 40 yard dash time at 6-foot-1, 221 pounds.

Quarterback Spencer Rattler, New Orleans Saints

The former five-star prospect was selected in the fifth round with pick number 150 overall. Rattler is projected to sign a four-year, $4,356,255 deal, per Spotrac. The signing bonus estimation is $336,255.

A Reese’s Senior Bowl selection, Rattler passed for 3,186 yards and 19 touchdowns during his 2023 campaign with the Gamecocks. In total, he passed for over 10,000 yards and 77 touchdowns at the college level, spanning his time at Oklahoma and South Carolina.

Defensive back Marcellas Dial, New England Patriots

Spotrac projects Dial’s draft slot- sixth round, pick number 180 overall, at $4,236,536 over four years. That would include a $216,536 signing bonus.

The Woodruff (South Carolina) product turned in a stint at Georgia Military College prior to arriving at USC as part of the 2021 recruiting class. Over the course of his three seasons, he tallied 114 tackles and three interceptions.

Offensive lineman Nick Gargiulo, Denver Broncos

The last Gamecocks alumnus to be selected this year, the projection by Spotrac for Gargiulo’s deal is four years, $4,100,732 with an $80,732 signing bonus.

After graduating from Yale, the New York native opted to play his final season in Columbia. Gargiulo played in all 12 games last season, working at both the center and guard positions.
